On top of the fact that i can’t afford one, i don’t have many “valuables” Just cheap tv, no jewlry, etc.

I actually am in a similar situation, we have two guard dogs at home and barks when somebody who is unfamiliar to them comes by our house. Although, we just experienced an incident that someone broke in our house from one side without them noticing the forced entry. Due to this, we’ve actually considered getting a home security system. It could be a bit costly, but we can’t afford another incident like what just happened to us. We did for a good while counted on our dogs for our very own version of a “home security system”, I guess there are really loopholes to everything.

After getting an alarm system I don’t think I will ever go back. It definitely is peace of mind and I would rather be safe than sorry.

This article definitely gave me some things to think about. I am one of those people who don’t think I need one but it’s probably just because I don’t want to pay for it.

We waited to late..we were burglarized in a safe neighborhood with no alarm
..we have one now and will never be without one…

Definitely wouldn’t buy a gun as I am against them but my little dog provides ample security for our needs. We don’t live in a rowdy neighborhood so feel quite safe. We are in the Northern VA area and but have many neighbors who do have security systems just as a security blanket…. doesn’t hurt!

Ha these crack me up! I fall into quite a few of the categories. Suppose we as humans always have an excuse not to buy something we don’t fully NEED. I would guess the ‘I got a dog’ is the most dominate one out there.

I don’t require the need to purchase a home security system because right now I am living in an apartment complex. And, have you ever heard of an apartment robbery? Very unlikely of happening in my mind because we have a 24/7 hour concierge and the apartment complex is locked at all times.

I’m a big fan of #13. Having a sign is a cheap deterrant to buying a home security system and I would say it works! Unless they robbers really want something your house then they would steer clear of a house that bears significant risks such as a security system. Such a great idea.
