I let Xfinity know that I love some of the services and that I would not cut my internet bc their internet speed is unparalleled in my area. No other providers offer the speeds and technology that Xfinity does.

That being said, recently, in one month my typical $175 bill shot up to $222 out of nowhere. I contacted Xfinity and explained that as much as I love their constant dedication creating innovative and intuitive products, it was just becoming simply too hard to afford for what at that time was basically X1, 150Mbs internet speed, and like 2500 channels, which of most I didn’t even watch.

I explained that I just wanted my X1, but I didn’t need all of the channels. I didn’t need every movie channel. I didn’t even need my landline which comes with most promotions whether you want it or not. I’ve never used it. Not once.

Retentions Dept. asked me what services specifically did I want and at what monthly cost. I said I wanted to be in the $160-$170 range and no more. I also said I was interested in getting a home security system as well. Although, not necessarily through Xfinity.

Well, by the time I got off of the correspondence with Xfinity, I not only kept my X1 with streampix (minus HBO, Starz, etc) and a full HD lineup with the sports pkg, but also was upgraded to 300Mbps internet, which came with a new beast of a router, and Xfinity home with two door censors, a window censor, one motion detector, one keypad terminal, and one touch screen panel. Total monthly cost: $165.

I honestly didn’t believe it at first. And I actually told them that If I agreed to this and got hit with any hidden fees, I would buy out my contract and leave Xfinity.

Well, as a show of faith Xfinity waived my Home security install fee and only added a one time charge for $99 on my next billing cycle. Then, they sent the install technician on Monday morning first thing. I contacted Xfinity on Saturday..two days prior.

The install tech showed up earlier than the two hour window given to me, he knew exactly what he was doing, it took almost no time to install, he very eloquently explained every detail of each piece of equipment, and he even recommended that I not use Xfinity’s cameras and camera monitoring, bc once the promo ended, the monitoring cost would sky rocket. He then recommended that I get a Ring stick up cam. He explained how they’re better and what they do more effectively than Xfinitys cameras, as well as how much cheaper the monitoring is.

I went with Ring and I absolutely could not be happier, but if the technician had not been so friendly, knowledgeable, and courteous, I’d have never known.

I have had ZERO issues with Xfinity home. It makes my girls feel safe knowing that we’re protected by an alarm and the Ring monitoring. And also, Xfinity still monitors your security system in the unfortunate event that your home is broken into. One morning my sixteen year old was leaving for work this summer and she forgot to disarm the alarm and went on about her merry way to her job. Unbeknownst to her, the alarm is going off in the house.

My wife and my phone woke me. On the phone was Xfinity calling to verify if we were in danger of a home invasion, or If we needed the police or fire rescue, etc. Then asked me to verify some info to prove I was who I said I was, and all was call after that.

Point is, don’t at the bad reviews fool you. Xfinity is constantly adding new features and products to give the best experience possible to their customer. Sure, they drop the ball sometimes, but when it comes to their home security system, they take it seriously, and they deliver on their promise to make sure you have the best home security tools that give you and your family peace of mind. That is priceless to me.

I highly recommend Xfinity Home.

My installer set up the basic system (three entry sensors, one motion). He told me the motion sensor would not be tripped by our pets; that was very wrong, as I’ve already had three false alarms due to being unable to permanently disable the motion sensor. (I tell the system to “ignore” it, but at some point it will reset and start monitoring it again.)

The installer also incorrectly set up a patio door sensor as a window, so if the system is armed and someone opens that door the alarm immediately goes off (i.e. no timer).

Both of these problems should be SIMPLE CONFIGURATION CHANGES, and yet I can fix NEITHER problem with the app. Online help keeps asking if I want a tech to come out. Seriously, how hard is it to put the sensor and alarm modes in the app Settings and let me configure it how I want?

If this were a new product, I could maybe understand that they hadn’t figured out such obvious features yet. After FIVE PLUS years? C’mon.

I had Xfinity alarm installed ,the tech showed up with missing equipment I ordered, said it wasn’t on the work order,I called their customer support and they said I was charged for the equipment. I told the tech to leave and I cancelled it all. Been very happy with ADT ever since.

Would help if you would share specifics on what you think are pros & cons. Just stating you disagree may make you feel like you’ve given input, but it really is not input.

Just this past summer when there where repeated storms, my system failed me what makes it even worse I was never alerted!
I just happen to check my home security as like I would normally do low and be it wasn’t working! I called Comcast they were able to check and see how long it was down! Go figure! Keep in mind I’m over 600 miles are so away from home, and I wasn’t returning for another week! Comcast tells me that I needed to be home to reset it! Well not able to return home to a week later , I’m left with my home unprotected! Paying almost $2,220.00 year for the bundle they I had to have to get home security! I had only one option and was to mail my key to a friend so that they could enter my home and secure it! It just wasn’t worth the problems that I was experiencing I shared this issue there were plenty more!
Today I called ADT !
I’m going to take a Hugh loss with breaking contracts! Not to mention Comcast reporting to the credit Bureau!
So hopefully when they are paid off I’ll have the peace of mind that I need looking for a more reliable security company! Not I cable company! Been with Comcast since 2012.

First month was good, however then it went downhill fast. The app is horrible to say the least as mine shows 2′ feet of snow since last year after numerous power recycles to the touch screen. The cameras are fixed and are one of the worse I have ever used. The alarm goes off, but never get any calls about the system going off. Going back to ADT!

Hi Ray,

Could you please share which sensors are mostly prone to problems you mentioned here?
