{"id":2899,"date":"2022-07-09T12:45:29","date_gmt":"2022-07-09T18:45:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/alarm-reviews.net\/?p=2899"},"modified":"2023-01-20T05:38:23","modified_gmt":"2023-01-20T12:38:23","slug":"cpi-security","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alarm-reviews.net\/cpi-security\/","title":{"rendered":"CPI Security Review"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"color: #ff7519;\">They&#8217;re working hard to appeal to today&#8217;s audience but is it paying off?<\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>With a revamped website and marketing campaign, CPI is making a bigger headway into the home security industry. &nbsp;We still think their logo could use&nbsp;some work however, looks like the 1990&#8217;s. &nbsp;The first thing you should know is&nbsp;<strong>they are not a national company<\/strong> like<a href=\"https:\/\/alarm-reviews.net\"> the top security systems are<\/a>. &nbsp;They are in 20 states total, primarily in the&nbsp;<strong>South East, USA. &nbsp;<\/strong>Like <a href=\"https:\/\/alarm-reviews.net\/central-security-group\/\">Central Group<\/a> they are a larger scale ma &amp; pa company.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"862\" height=\"479\" src=\"https:\/\/alarm-reviews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/CPI-Security-Systems-Headquarters.jpg\" alt=\"CPI Security Office\" class=\"wp-image-4142\" srcset=\"https:\/\/alarm-reviews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/CPI-Security-Systems-Headquarters.jpg 862w, https:\/\/alarm-reviews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/CPI-Security-Systems-Headquarters-300x167.jpg 300w, https:\/\/alarm-reviews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/CPI-Security-Systems-Headquarters-768x427.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 862px) 100vw, 862px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><em>Install van parked outside the CPI headquarters shown<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"color: #008080;\">Before we go more in-depth on CPI here is a look at some of the good and bad things:<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Pros<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Over 20 years of history in the business.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Kept up with market trends and offer good equipment.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Grown slow and steadily.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Newer website<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbb.org\/raleigh-durham\/business-reviews\/security-control-equipment-suppliers\/cpi-security-systems-in-morrisville-nc-14648\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">A+ BBB rating<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>24\/7 Monitoring (that is not outsourced)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Cons<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Hide their prices on website<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Long contracts where you pay 75% of contract value to get out of<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Higher starting costs (expect $149-199)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Limited availability. &nbsp;So if you ever move out of the South East you can&#8217;t move it with you like other national companies.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Hard to contact customer service.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>App has had several bug issues over the years<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/alarm-reviews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/Pricing-Packages-e1378176132638.png\" alt=\"Package Costs\" class=\"wp-image-988\" width=\"350\" height=\"80\" srcset=\"https:\/\/alarm-reviews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/Pricing-Packages-e1378176132638.png 700w, https:\/\/alarm-reviews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/Pricing-Packages-e1378176132638-300x69.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 350px) 100vw, 350px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"color: #008080;\"><em>How much will this be costing me?<\/em><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>CPI is&nbsp;<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>very tricky<\/strong><\/span> on their site and do not disclose any prices. &nbsp;They make sure that you want to call in and talk to a sales rep in order to find that information. &nbsp;Luckily we dug up the dirt on them and here is what we found.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Basic&nbsp;<\/strong>&#8211; Wireless setup with $99+ installation starting at $29.99 a month. &nbsp;<em>Should you expect to get this rate? &nbsp;<\/em>No. &nbsp;By the time you get off the phone they will have you sold up to at least the standard or professional packages which are around $45-75\/month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Activation Fee $99+&#8230; <\/strong>&nbsp;You get a free installation fee! (Woohoo!&#8230; well, sort of). &nbsp;Instead of paying for installation you pay for &#8216;activation&#8217;. &nbsp;Same thing in our books, the only company that you truly get $0 in starting costs is <a href=\"https:\/\/alarm-reviews.net\/protect-america-home-security-review\/\">Protect America<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n<p >No products found.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/alarm-reviews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/Security-Equipment-e1379356657828.png\" alt=\"security equipment\" class=\"wp-image-1170\" width=\"350\" height=\"80\" srcset=\"https:\/\/alarm-reviews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/Security-Equipment-e1379356657828.png 700w, https:\/\/alarm-reviews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/Security-Equipment-e1379356657828-300x69.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 350px) 100vw, 350px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"color: #008080;\">The Basics<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>CPI offers a variety of equipment. &nbsp;Lots of smaller companies use <a href=\"https:\/\/alarm-reviews.net\/honeywell-total-connect-security\/\">Honeywell<\/a> and GE equipment only. &nbsp;These guys have their own app, a Yale keypad door lock, 2gig control panel and some proprietary self-made equipment such as their smoke alarm and other standard sensors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They have some cool security cameras but beware, this will make your price (out of pocket and monthly) go up. &nbsp;You may want to use them as a standard company and then add a Canary or Nest security camera on top of that. &nbsp;For the best deals with security cameras <a href=\"https:\/\/alarm-reviews.net\/frontpoint-security-review\/\">read about Frontpoint<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">CPI Intouch<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><span style=\"color: #008080;\"><em><strong>What is this all-in-one thing?<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"503\" height=\"585\" src=\"https:\/\/alarm-reviews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Intouch-Control-system.png\" alt=\"Intouch Control system\" class=\"wp-image-2901\" srcset=\"https:\/\/alarm-reviews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Intouch-Control-system.png 503w, https:\/\/alarm-reviews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Intouch-Control-system-258x300.png 258w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 503px) 100vw, 503px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>The CPI Intouch Control is their app and dashboard (for website) control system for your alarm. &nbsp;We like that they made one their selves (similar to <a href=\"https:\/\/alarm-reviews.net\/adt-home-security-review\/\">ADT Pulse technology<\/a>) and didn&#8217;t just use <a href=\"https:\/\/alarm-reviews.net\/alarm-com-reviews-what-it-is-how-it-works\/\">Alarm.com&#8217;s app<\/a> like most other companies do. &nbsp;You can experience full home control with In-touch, get notifications for when your door is unlocked and locked, any alarm sets-off, control your thermostat and get other various updates. &nbsp;They did and continue to put a lot of money into this software development which is impressive for a company that is not on a national level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here is a video explaining more about the features of Intouch.<br><iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/k7rhrnvfY_E\" width=\"312\" height=\"312\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">CPI vs ADT<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><span style=\"color: #008080;\"><strong>How do they stack up against the big dogs?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here is what differentiates ADT and CPI Security:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>ADT is offered nationally, CPI only in South East<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>History differences &#8211;
